报告题目：Elastic Service Scaling in Cloud Radio Access Network

报告摘要：Cloud radio access network (C-RAN) is emerging as a potential alternative for the next generation RAN by merging RAN and cloud computing. Differing from the intensive study on C-RAN from the aspect of wireless transmission, in this talk, we describe two recent works on C-RAN from the aspect of cloud computing. Specifically, cloud computing brings the feature of elastic service scaling into the RAN, which means the amount of computation resources in C-RAN baseband unit (BBU) pool can be dynamically adjusted. Therefore, effectively managing and dispatching those computation resources in C-RAN becomes a critical problem.
In this talk, we consider the joint computation resource allocation and sparse beamforming problems, under two different C-RAN scenarios respectively. For each scenario, we cover system model, problem formulation, solution approach, and simulation results. We also discuss some potential future research topics in the end of this talk.
演讲人简介：Jianhua Tang received his B.E. degree in Communication Engineering from Northeastern University, China, in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2015. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He was a visiting researcher at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, Canada, from Oct. 2014 to Dec. 2014. His research interests include cloud computing, content delivery network (CDN) and cloud radio access network (C-RAN).
